WEEKLY READING LIST - Leumi USA

Greetings,

Welcome to the latest edition of Leumi’s Weekly Reading List. I hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and out of harm’s way.

While today’s interest rate environment is quite beneficial to those looking to refinance their mortgages, it is equally detrimental to those looking for income. Therefore, we begin this week’s entry with a subject that has been on the minds of many of our clients: How do I find yield in today’s rate environment? In a recent interview with Zev Brenner, Leumi’s Head of U.S. Private Banking, Michael Zaremsky, discusses the various risks to be aware of when weighing different options.

As always, I found the articles below to be interesting, helpful, or entertaining.

Warren Buffett Said This Metric Signaled the 2001 Crash — Now It’s Sounding the Alarm on Global Markets – MarketWatch discusses the “Buffett Indicator” and why it may be a bearish signal for the global markets.

Goldman Sees Room for S&P to Surpass 3,600 – Bloomberg discusses Goldman Sachs’ case for why the S&P 500 may have more room to grow from today’s levels.

Visualizing the History of Pandemics – Visual Capitalist provides a history of pandemics from the Antonine Plague to COVID-19.

3 Tax Planning Strategies to Consider Now – With the presidential election less than 90 days away, ThinkAdvisor details three tax planning strategies to consider in the anticipation of change.

Hollywood’s 25 Favorite Villains – A recent team meeting/Friday happy hour (virtual, of course) had us discussing the best villains in movie history. This list from The Hollywood Reporter is generally in alignment with our assessment, although I would argue that “The Shark” (aka “Bruce”) from Jaws should be much higher.

I hope you enjoy!
